On Thursday, February 26th, when Xiaofang and I walked into the Gatov-Eest Gallery, we both were attracted by a series of artworks that named as “La Vie En Noir”. The artists of this series of artworks are Emily Babbette and Romina Del Castillo. The artworks were very remarkable and special in the gallery.
The artist, Emily Babbette, said that she spent a lot of time to complete this series of artworks. She spent almost 30 hours on these artworks. The artworks were drawn by charcoal, pastel chalk and color pencil. The artworks are portraits, and she said that she likes to invite her friends as models to her home to help her complete these paintings. Also, she explained the artwork to us. She said that she really likes music and music is very important to her because music is the inspiration to her artworks. “I see a red door and I want to paint it black” this is a song of The Rolling Stones that inspired Emily to create the artworks.
There is something interesting about Emily Babbette. She has a younger sister. They always have different ideas to do things, but she drawn her sister for her artwork. After I experienced the series of artworks by Emily Babbette and Romina Del Castillo, I realized that our families and friends have deferent ideas or have disputes with us sometimes, but when we need help, they will always be with us.
